ARTIST'S STUDIO - RENOVATION AFTER CONSOLIDATION
Paris 13

“Important artists established their studios here, in this small artists’ city, built like many others in the neighborhood, with materials recovered from the pavilions of the 1889 Paris Universal Exhibition.
Although the buildings are not protected as Historic Monuments, as a place of memory, this specificity of the Paris of "Montparnasse" has been identified by the Local Urban Planning Plan as a whole subject to special provisions with a green space and existing volume to be preserved.
The project is part of this approach, through a rigorous restoration, rehabilitation and upgrading to technical and comfort standards of this house-studio used as a main residence for the new owners, art collectors, who can present their paintings there in the best conditions.
The structure of the house, which was too degraded due to its origins, with very heterogeneous reuses, required the creation of a contemporary structure, slipped inside the building, to reattach it to this new frame.
Significant work was carried out on the glass roofs, to maintain the finesse of their metal frames while meeting thermal requirements.
