This international architectural competition focused on the creation of an oenological centre, including a wine-making cellar, a restaurant and a 120-room hotel, in conjunction with the development of the Abbaye de Cassan château into a fitness centre.
The origin of the Abbey of Cassan castle dates back to the 11th century, when the church was founded by regular canons. It has had a turbulent history that has led to multiple transformations. If today the influence that the abbey has known is readable on the monument, its state of degradation requires restoration and rehabilitation in order to bring it back to life.
The new owner plans to enhance this exceptional complex with a fitness center type program for employees of large companies, according to the Anglo-Saxon concept called "Corporate Wellness Center". The balneotherapy center can accommodate 120 people and would include all the high comfort and health fitness equipment, as well as a restaurant, its kitchen and all adjacent services, a large conference room in the basement, 21 bedrooms (including 11 with PMR access) and staff accommodation.
These developments would be carried out partly in new buildings and partly in the existing abbey, while maintaining the original structure and decorations.
