Saint-Florent-Le-Veil, 49
The City of Saint-Florent-Le-Veil has carried out a multi-year program of restoration and enhancement of its rich architectural heritage through the reuse of its historic monuments: rehabilitation of the Old Maurist Abbey with the creation of a 200-seat auditorium, exhibition halls and a center of Arts and Crafts dedicated to Music, redevelopment of the squares, forecourts and alleys of the town center, terraced gardens, restructuring of the Quays of the Loire listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, restoration and reuse of the Maison de Julien Gracq bequeathed to the City to create a Maison des Ecritures with its writers' residence.
From the top of Mont-Glonne, overlooking the Loire, with its Abbey, to the banks of the Loire with the Maison Julien Gracq, the whole city has become a cultural network, initiated by the Festival Les Orientales, dedicated to World Music and open to the Scriptures thanks to Julien Gracq.
